Skip the Commute with Distance Education

It's easy to come up with reasons why you shouldn't get more education. Classes cost too much. School would take you away from your family and friends. You might have to give up your day job. Traffic and gas prices are too high to commute to campus. You're too old to go back to school. The list goes on and on. But once you realize distance learning is a viable option, the excuses go up in smoke.

Read on to find out how distance education and online classes can make your dreams come true, without altering your day-to-day life dramatically.

Distance Learning Happens at Home

If you enroll in a distance education program, your online classes will take place on your home computer or laptop. With online education, there's no need to commute to a campus or give up your day job, which is one of the huge benefits of distance education. Check out a variety of distance learning programs to find the one that best suits your schedule.

Some distance education programs are more flexible than others, so be sure to ask about the class schedule. If you find a distance learning program that is synchronous, that means you will need to "attend" class a set time and day. However, many distance education programs offer asynchronous online classes, which give participants the most flexibility. With an asynchronous online class, you can log in any time you want.

Whether your online class is asynchronous or not, you will still have the benefit of learning from the comfort of home. Not only do distance education programs offer regular classes online, but most also administer tests, allow students to order books online, keep an archive of lectures and notes, have class discussions, and more--all online. As you can see, distance education today can happen from virtually anywhere in the world.
